Hummus, take 2

Last week, when we opened our new cookbook to make something, we found a recipe for hummus. It came out good, even if it was a little…..green.

I think that instead of the white parts of the green onion the recipe calls for, I threw in too much of the green part. This time around, hubby chopped up the white parts, and this time, turned out tastier and more hummus-colored.

Throw in some pita chips (pita bread cut into triangles, sprinkled with a little salt, and baked in the oven for about 10 minutes at 325 degrees), and you have a yummy snack.

Mmm…I had hummus for Superbowl Sunday last year…I might have to have more again this year. Yours looks good–green and “normal” colored!

Much better – I thought the first pic was guacamole at first.

Hey There,
Your hummus looks great. I make hummus at least once a week for my family. You’ve got to try it with roasted red peppers, or roasted garlic, or avacado. Yummy.

Oddly, I’ve never eaten hummus.

I don’t care about the color. It looks yummy in both shots!

Sorry, but NO WAY! Hummus is not supposed to be green OR red, and the reason these crispy pita triangles were invented in the first place was that someone didn’t have fresh pita bread…

On my blog you’ll find an easy recipe for the real thing – traditional hummus, with both the right texture and color. Try making that, and you’ll never eat these horrible mutations (sorry…) again.

There must be a hummus bug out there because Hubby and kiddos have been asking for it a lot lately.
